Friday Show and Tell: The Parents Edition--Come as Little Children

This week just started, how in the world could it possibly be over?

Did you ever notice how God can speak to us through our children? If you haven't noticed, then your weren't paying attention. It amazes me how we can walk around and not notice something that is right in front of us until our children point it out. I love it when this happens and I always praise God when I notice, because I didn't get it when God was trying to reach me....he had to use the children to get my attention.

I am daily thankful for children that have a heart for things of the Lord. I pray daily that they will continue to walk with the Lord and I will continue to notice when the Lord is trying to get my attention through my children.

And now share with all of us your special :
  • accomplishments
  • awards
  • breakthroughs
  • field trips
  • special moments
  • funny things your child said
  • successful teaching methods or curriculum
Basically, this is an easy thing...don't think of it complicated. We all have things that happen in our week with our kids that we immediately want to share or "light bulb" moments with our kids that we want to share.

This is the place...we can learn so much from each other and encourage each other in this journey with our children.

Friday Show and Tell: The Parents Edition--The Rewards of Homeschooling

Do you sometimes wish that people would stop looking at you that weird way when say you "homeschool" your children.

Oh my gosh, your kids are missing out..they will have no friends, they won't be able to get along in the "real world", they won't get into college, they will be "backward".

What exactly is backward anyway? Who is it that decides who is backward? lol

You know what I mean there.

I believe that God has given these precious children to each of us parents to raise. I don't believe that my mold fits your mold. But I do know one thing, homeschooling was the right thing for our family and we have never regret ed it. It seems it may have caused some other folks more pain than us....but we are fine...lol

All of that being said. We have one daughter that we graduated 2 years ago in 2007. She is attending the local community college and yes she fits in just fine for goodness sake. lol :)

She has had many opportunities to share her faith and take a stand for her beliefs. It has been hard at times but that would be for anyone. She is the type of student that has to work hard for her grades and nothing comes easy. She has excellent study habits that she is improving continually. She is one the Deans List and she is in the honor society on campus.

We are so proud of her. This past week she got an unexpected scholarship..from a private donor. We were thrilled and reminded that God provides. We are thankful for Gods provisions.

And now share with all of us your special :

Show and Tell: The Parents Edition

This week has been a wonderful week. It is Missions Week at our Church and we have been blessed and blessed again and again. My daughter has carefully blogged about the activities and shared what she got from each activity. She will continue to do so until the end of the week long event on Sunday.
I could tell you all about this, but better yet you can go to my daughters blog and read it from her perspective.
I hope you are blessed from it.
Click here to go and share in this life changing event that we have had the opportunity to be involved in this week.

My Show and Tell for this week,

My Daughter: Type A Personality

My daughter is such an individual. I am always having to remind her that I am the parent and she is the daughter. These boundries are easily confused.

She has so many great qualities, she is very organized, is usually good at leadership. These things don't always come with patience and a calm spirit. This was illustrated this week when she was put in a leadership position.

She and 3 other teens lead a group of some 40 other teen in a "Rush Night". They were to come up with ideas and put together a booth with food and decorate for competition with another team. They did very well!

My daughter did however learn some lessons....She wanted to do it all and there was NO WAY! She had to learn to let others do their part and wait on them, even if it didn't get done the way she would have done it.

She did so great on the organization and the food and then she had to learn her lessons on patience and letting go of what she had no control over.

It was a great learning experience! I was a proud mama....

So What do you have to share.....?

Tackling a New Meme For Parents

My tackle for the Tuesday is a New Meme!

I am so excited. I first was introduced to the "World Of Blogs" about a year ago. I have been learning so much from all the ladies and gentlemen on the "Web". The memes have been a great source of information for me.

I decided that all us Parents need a meme.....

And so....."Friday Show and Tell....The Parents Edition" Was born.

I wanted a place where parents could share with other parents
  • accomplishments
  • awards
  • breakthroughs
  • field trips
  • special moments
  • funny things your child said
  • successful teaching methods or curriculum
Basically, this is an easy thing...don't think of it complicated. We all have things that happen in our week with our kids that we immediately want to share or "light bulb" moments with our kids that we want to share.

This is the place...we can learn so much from each other and encourage each other in this journey with our children.

Here is an example of a post.
This is a story a friend told me....

She was praying with her 3 children who she homeschools and the youngest one was not so much as reverent as maybe he should be.. So, Mom proceeded to explain to the young fella that when we pray to God, we are in his presence...we enter the throne room with God.... She thought about it and said, " Mom, why does God need a throwing room for ?" lol
Precious, Out of the mouth of babes.

Again, I am so excited about this meme. I will start it this friday. I look forward to all you coming back and sharing all your experiences and stories this friday.

Be sure to bookmark this blog!

See you back here Friday!
