What Mama Need Most: FREE Facial!! :)

Continuing from my last Works for Me Wednesday Post.....I have something else that I ran upon that really WORKED FOR ME! A FREE Facial. I mean a really nice facial....complete with a 10 minute mask...I was in heaven.

I was in Boston in a really nice mall and ran upon a shop called Origins....I went in and asked questions about the products. I have become more and more aware of the chemicals and such used in so many of our products we use on a daily basis and the bad effects they have on our bodies. This line of skin care products are chemical free....They are " Green " too.

This is a blurb for their website:

"Since we launched in 1990, Origins has been about looking at things in different ways. Choices. Alternatives. New experiences. All sorts of exciting new possibilities. And always finding answers in nature. And we offer you three distinct collections of products to choose from.Since 1990, we’ve been creating and innovating healthful choices in Skin Care, Hair Care, Bath and Body, Color and Sensory Therapy® products using the best of nature along with trying to do what’s best for the planet and what’s best for you.Our many unique products go beyond physical appearance to treat, touch, scent and surround every aspect of your being and well-being. We create products for farmhouse and penthouse, for men and women, babies and pets, getting and gifting. Whether you need an aromatic candle to light your way...or a special gift to make someone’s day, you’ll find just what you need to live a more natural lifestyle at Origins.Today you’ll find Origins in more than 450 department and specialty stores and 125 of our own free-standing retail stores in the United States as well as in 26 countries around the world. "

Check out their website here.

Well, I was in heaven. A Free facial and I walked out of there with my face feeling wonderful. I was very impressed with the products. I, of course could not afford to buy but one product...But I really liked the products.

If you have a store in your area...or if the line has a counter in one of your big department stores...you too can go and get a free facial...I am telling you, I Worked for Me!

Packing for a Holiday: Away for it ALL!

Around here we have to make fun out of what ever it is in our schedule that we HAVE to do....This Holiday we have to go to West Virginia for Work for my husband. We have family there and we LOVE spending time with them. So we get to spend the Holiday with our family!

We don't usually travel on Holidays so this is different for us.

While we are there we are taking advantage of the mountians and I am taking the girls sking....yeah....not me....just them...I am perfecting the sport of sitting and watching...I am getting very good at this.

We are excited and are packing today. So this is my tackle!

Enjoy your family for Thanksgiving!

God Bless,
Lynne

Happy Thanksgiving

A Little Humor for the Holiday Season!
____________________________________________________________________
On this holiday I am thinking of all we truly do need to be thankful for but because of all we have been blessed with, we don't see it. We take so much for granite. Right now, with the economy in the state it is in, it gives us a chance to realize what we really do have. Something like freedom,
free·dom
Pronunciation:
\ˈfrē-dəm\
Function:
noun
Date:
before 12th century
1: the quality or state of being free: as a: the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action b: liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another.
Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to assemble for our worship services, freedom of press, so that we may print and distribute the Word of God, freedom of educating our children the way we see fit through God's eyes.
With all these freedoms that we should be thankful for....Everyday, we are in danger of having these freedoms taken away.
We need to be thankful and we need to pray for the leaders of thie country.
As you are celebrating this Thanksgiving, Pray with your families for our nation, and for our freedoms.
God Bless you ,

Taking Care of My Ever Aging Skin

____________________________________________________________________
My tackle today is taking care of my Skin. After I turned 40,(several years back), I noticed drastic changes in my skin. I have gotten age spots and have been trying everything to lighten them...One thing I have found out for sure..

.If you do nothing they will not go away..

.If you do something, it might help...

This facts are not really comforting...but it does keep me searching for a product that will really help.

You can spend alot of money on skincare! Goodness, sometimes I wonder if there is gold in the bottles..lol

I have been trying several products and found several that seem to work.

First, let me say that if you have hormone problems..this could complicate your skin aging problems.
I recently have started on bioidentical estrogen and a compounded mixture from my pharmicist that really seems to be helping my skin. yeah!

Second I found a good, affordable, skin brightner and moisturizer. I have had dark circles for years and they are much better and my skin looks much better.
It is called Juice Organics.

First I use the Brightening Serum Cost approx $19.00
Then I use the Brightening MoisturizerCost approx $14.00

This really works and I am happy with the price...I actually got mine on clearance for $2.00 a bottle which is awesome...but, this is a product that I will purchase for the prices listed above. It is good stuff and organic too. I Love it and it Works for me.

Homeschool Field Trips on The Cheap

One of the greatest things about homeschooling is the fact that you can enrich you children through field trips.

In our area, there is a wealth of possible field trips that a family mayy participate in for little money. With gas prices the way they are, you will end up with some investment in gas for sure. But if you are careful, you can still come out smelling like a rose and keep you money in your pocket.

One way to save is to look for activities that there is no admission charge..
FREE is the key word here.

County, City or State Museums---
Our Tennessee State Museum is extensive, you could spend several days going through it...
and it is FREE!

Public Library Exhibits--
Nashville Public Library just had a FREE exhibit of an original copy of the Declaration of Independence.
There are always exhibits that include artists of various mediums. Check out their website for a list of upcoming events, storyhours, puppet shows and many other activities that are sure to enrich your children. For FREE!

Dress Rehearsals for Performances in your area---
Like the Nashville Symphony, or Broadway Shows or Christmas Special Shows; ie,Rockettes Christmas Shows, Nutcracker, Christmas Plays, etc

Our area Nashville Symphony has rehearsals that they invite area school children to...bonus is after the rehearsal, the featured artist gives an q&a session for the kids....AWESOME AND FREE!

The Rockettes have come to Nashville to do a Christmas Show....The ticket go fr $65.00....But, they gave our home school group a number of tickets to the rehearsal for FREE! That was awesome because many of these families could have never afforded to attends this....

Most area historical homes or sites have a FREE day once a year...

Our area The Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson has a free day on his birthday each year, March 15.

Our local Art Museum. The Frist has kids get in FREE everyday, Adults cost $8.00 But ...They have a free day every month sponsored by a local bank. Every Thursday night College Students get in FREE! FREE FAMILY DAYS
The Frist Center features periodic free family days throughout the year. Special programs and activities created just for families and are themed around current exhibitions. Plus I think there are other free days.

Living History Events will usually donate some free tickets to home school groups.

You just basically have to do your homework...

Make a list of the places you want to go, make some phone calls, check the web.

Team up with other home school families and share rides.

If you have any ideas on how to do family field trips on the cheap...
leave a comment and share with us...

Thanks
Happy Homeschooling
Lynne

Kroger: Free Stuff with Kroger Coupons

Do you get an fat envelope in the Mail from Kroger every once in a while? It has coupons in it.I have always opened and tried to work these coupons into my shopping.

I was excited and opened the envelope to see what goodies were in there....and surprise........

There were 4 coupons that had items totally FREE. I got Kroger Bottled water (case of 24), Box of Cherrios, Box of Nature Valley Granola Bars and a Sara Lee Pumpkin Pie....All Free! I was so excited.

I am not positive what generates these coupons...I think you have to register for a Kroger Card....I also think you have to use your Kroger card to get them...I use mine every time I shop Kroger.

I LOVE KROGER!

So, the moral of this story is...open the envelope....use the coupons....or just mail them to me...lol

Frugal Free Movies

Hulu.com is offering free movies on demand through the browser. This is made possible by the efforts of NBC and News Corp. Here now a quick look at how Hulu changes the online video-on-demand picture:

Not too long ago, I would have told you that video over the Internet was a little more than a dream. Grainy, postage stamp-sized windows, endless rebuffering, and choppy, out-of-sync audio was the typical experience–given that there was another electronic box in the living room called a “television,” Internet video hardly seemed worth the effort.

With todays technology-- Hulu joins Apple’s iTunes Music Store, Netflix, ABC.go.com, Amazon Unboxed and others in actually providing a viable alternative to the TV Set for watching television shows and movies on your computer.

Hulu is different from paid online video like Apple and Amazon in that it’s free, obviously. The programs have what Hulu calls “limited” commericial interruptions, and to be fair, unlike regular TV, the commercial breaks that I saw were limited to one 30-second ad, inserted at the usual place you might find them while watching a TV program. You can pause, go back, and skip ahead to other parts of the program–it seems likely that one might be able to avoid the ads if you were determined to do so, but I found that the advantage of watching a TV show with ads on my computer over watching on TV was that I could simply pop open another browser window and listen for the end of the ad while I checked my email or caught up on my blogs. For now, to a lazy person like me, hacking my way around the ads seems like it might not be worth the bother.

Picture quality, while not high-def, is certainly acceptable on my 15-inch laptop screen, and you can open the window to full screen if you like, or pop the video out into a separate window.

To save money, we have canceled out cable TV. Because of this hulu.com has really given us a frugal way to watch movies. We love it and hope you will go see the wide range of videos available.

Tackling Relaxation In New England With Garmin GPS Works For Me

Wordless Wednesday

Fall Leaves in Harvard Yard-Cambridge, MA

It is so hard to get away from daily life and all its obligations....You know what I mean, I know you do!!

Anyway, sometimes you actually have to MAKE it happen. So......since my husband had to attend a school in Boston, MA....I decided to tag along....he he. I just climbed in his suitcase and off we went....not really.

It is fall and the leaves are turning and the company puts him up on a really plush hotel....I sleep with him so thats no xtra cost...lol

We came early and spend a day at Cape Cod and 1/2 day in Boston .....It was so awesome and the weather was so beautiful.

Monday it was off to school for him and I was off on my own....But not to worry....I had my Garmin GPS and off "we" went...

Garmin and I were really getting along well by the end of it all. Garmin "Works For ME" for sure. And, as far as a TOY that is worth buying .....this one fits the bill for me and my husband.

I was able to navigate through the busy streets with no problems. I LOVE this thing. We have used GPS before off our computer and I HATED it. But this Garmin GPS is a wonderful thing.

What is GPS?

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.

How it works

GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map.

A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can determine the user's 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user's position has been determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed, bearing, track, trip distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.

How accurate is GPS?

Today's GPS receivers are extremely accurate, thanks to their parallel multi-channel design. Garmin's 12 parallel channel receivers are quick to lock onto satellites when first turned on and they maintain strong locks, even in dense foliage or urban settings with tall buildings. Certain atmospheric factors and other sources of error can affect the accuracy of GPS receivers. Garmin® GPS receivers are accurate to within 15 meters on average.

Newer Garmin GPS receivers with WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) capability can improve accuracy to less than three meters on average. No additional equipment or fees are required to take advantage of WAAS. Users can also get better accuracy with Differential GPS (DGPS), which corrects GPS signals to within an average of three to five meters. The U.S. Coast Guard operates the most common DGPS correction service. This system consists of a network of towers that receive GPS signals and transmit a corrected signal by beacon transmitters. In order to get the corrected signal, users must have a differential beacon receiver and beacon antenna in addition to their GPS.

I just programed it and drove...It really gives you a heads up on all turns!

Hope you can tackle some R&R soon even if it is forced...lol.
